A profound lesson I have learned in recovery (and learned to accept) is that nobody is going to save or rescue me. Granted, I have had a tremendous amount of support, but realizing that ultimately I am responsible for my own happiness and no person, money, or tangible thing will fill any void, has been both liberating and satisfying.
