Outrageous Obsession or Magnificent Obsession; Which is it?

As you pay close attention to this article, you begin to consider the meaning for your life.

Little by little you begin to free yourself of limiting beliefs and decide to…

Neil Diamond sang:

I am, I said, to no one there. And no one heard at all, not even the chair. I am. I cried. I am, said I. And I am lost, and I can’t even say why, leavin’ me lonely still.

Outrageous Obsession Kills Purpose

I sat in a 72 sq. ft. office/bedroom.  Deep in depression … wondering … my life swiftly passing by me.

Porn had left me feeling empty.  It sucked every bit of enthusiasm out of me.

I clicked off the porn site.

I thought: What purpose was there in watching emotionally damaged people suffering from self-degradation? What meaning was there in having an outrageous obsession for pornography just to masturbate?

What is an outrageous obsession?

Outrageous

1. grossly offensive to right or decency

3. violent in action or temper (Random House, 2010).

Obsession

1. the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc.

2. the state of being obsessed (2010).

Pornography had dominated my thoughts with persistent and perverted ideas about sexuality.  Those attitudes were grossly offensive to decency.
Initially, the spirit of pornography lurched onto me; then, the violent sexual acts on the screen morphed into my  personality.  I lusted after every female no matter how indecent it was.
Am I over the top with my description? No. Not at all.
At the time, the Neil Diamond song described my state of mind.  I made a decision.  I had to change.  I had Had It.
I thought about the moments in my life when I was successful and had the most joy.  I pondered on what made me the happiest. I decided then and there that I would concentrate all my focus, energy, and power on the gift that gave me the most enthusiasm.
My focus changed to a Magnificent Obsession.  I chose the meaning for my life.  I had a persistent driving focus.  I gained purpose
Pornography lost its meaning for me.
Meditation
Thanks,
Dale

In the year 1971 I became a store manager at age 19. I discovered I had a gift for mentoring. I gave one on one coaching, instruction and teaching with ease. And, I loved it. However, I had a problem that held me back from achieving my full potential. I was addicted to porn. When I was going through my puberty years in life, I found pornography (adult magazines) in my Dad's closet. I was hooked. I had my ups and downs throughout my life: Ups, when I was off of porn and using my gift: and, Downs, when I was using porn. Porn captured my attention, holding me back. I found the secrets to breaking free from porn. Like anyone else, I have to work at keeping my emotions positive, every day, to stay free. Limiting emotions--fear, doubt, hate, lust, sloth, pride, any emotion that kills joy. Joy is the ultimate weapon against porn. You have it; porn loses its hold on you. I dedicate this blog to those who are looking for ways to end pornography in their life. To Your Peace, Power and Plenty, Dale P.S. The picture above is not me. The photo represents all families free from pornography.
