Pornography: Finding Purpose and Losing Porn Cravings

Living with Purpose Brings True Happiness!

Purpose Brings You Happiness!

First, intensify the pain the relapse causes you.
Second, change the meaning of the relapse.
Third, commit not do porn again. Then, right away, do something meaningful with your life. Key: happiness replaces desires for porn.
  1. Change your focus. Stop thinking how awful you are for relapsing for the umpteenth time. Focus on how horrible you feel. That’s right. Experience the horrible feelings.
  2. Remember how your body reacted to viewing porn. I’m not talking about sensually but emotionally. What discomforts did you feel throughout your body while viewing porn?
  3. Then, throughout the week keep a journal of how you feel, react and behave. Take notice who you’re becoming.

Pornography is a muddy, slippery slope, sliding you down into an emotional hell; feelings of depression, anxiety, shame, guilt, and hopelessness.

  • Think about all the things you’ll end up doing, if you keep on viewing porn. Experiencing homosexual cravings, committing adultery in reality, breaking up the family, viewing younger and younger subjects on the internet, being a…, the list goes on and on.
  • Now, think about all the things you’ll lose, if you keep doing porn. Ponder the things that cause the severest pain.
  • Then, intensify the feelings you feel, till you loathe porn so much you get sick even thinking about it.
  1. You’re not doing yourself any favors, beating yourself up over relapsing. Calling yourself names, hating yourself for doing it, you’ll actually reinforce the pattern.
  2. Change the meaning of the experience.
  3. Anchor a new belief to replace porn such as a  piece of jewelry, smooth rock, or a pearl from Hobby Lobby store.

Example: I enjoy porn less; every time, I view it. I know I’m losing the desire for porn.  Check out the following examples of changing beliefs.

Example: Failures are guide posts to success. This experience is bringing me closer to the answer.

Then, Focus on the outcomes you want to have in your life: Joys you feel from living a wholesome life.

Answer these questions, “What’s most important to me? What is it that I want in my life?”

Now, get a piece of paper and write your answers.  Ponder or meditate on the answers.

How will it make you feel to accomplish this?

Now, very important, do something immediately that’s important to you. Every week, do one thing for your purpose in life. This adds meaning to your existence.

Happiness comes to those who have meaning in their lives.

Porn can’t hold a candle to joy, because pornography is dark and cold.

Joy is light and warm.

Joy is your secret weapon against porn.

Thanks,

Dale

In the year 1971 I became a store manager at age 19. I discovered I had a gift for mentoring. I gave one on one coaching, instruction and teaching with ease. And, I loved it. However, I had a problem that held me back from achieving my full potential. I was addicted to porn. When I was going through my puberty years in life, I found pornography (adult magazines) in my Dad's closet. I was hooked. I had my ups and downs throughout my life: Ups, when I was off of porn and using my gift: and, Downs, when I was using porn. Porn captured my attention, holding me back. I found the secrets to breaking free from porn. Like anyone else, I have to work at keeping my emotions positive, every day, to stay free. Limiting emotions--fear, doubt, hate, lust, sloth, pride, any emotion that kills joy. Joy is the ultimate weapon against porn. You have it; porn loses its hold on you. I dedicate this blog to those who are looking for ways to end pornography in their life. To Your Peace, Power and Plenty, Dale P.S. The picture above is not me. The photo represents all families free from pornography.
